Cancellation Policy When you have signed up for a sailing event, been assigned to a boat and find you cannot attend, call the Fleet Captain 2 days before the event so that he or she can assign someone else to that boat. Failure to provide proper notification will result in your voucher being forfeited. Vouchers for sailing events will be collected by the skipper of the boat to which you are assigned. No crew will be invited on board for a sailingevent without first giving the skipper your voucher for that event. So, keep your vouchers in a place where you can find them. Please don't put your skipper on the spot by forgetting your voucher. Skippers are instructed to turn away anyone who cannot present a voucher for that sailing event. Just as you keep track of your money; keep track of yourvouchers. Vouchers may be transferred between members in goodstanding. You can expect the Fleet Captain to mix up the crews on each event so we all get to meet more of the many fine members of SBSYC. Learn the differences in rigging and sailing different boats, and also you will learn different aspects of sailing from various captains. Racing and Regattas Those members of SBSYCwho are available and interested in sailing in various regattas and dinner-club races will be assigned to a specific boat in order to become the most proficient in working as a racing team and to get used to the captain and his tactics. Becoming a member of a racing crew takes time and commitment to learning, practicing, and honing your sailing skills. This will result in SBSYC gaining the reputation of having excellent sailors, enthusiastic members, and a really cutting edge racing group who can be competitive while having a lot of fun. Those racing crew members can expect occasional regattas that require crewing for those events for the entire weekend, or even as long as 7-10 days. No vouchers are required for crewing in these events.
Sailing event crew assignments will be made by the Fleet Captain. Prior to the event you will be notified who your captain is, type of boat, departure time and location. If more crew sign up for an event than space available, assignments will be on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are not assigned to a boat due to lack of available space, you will be placed at the top of the list for the next sailing event.
SBSYC uses a voucher system for scheduled sailing events. These events include:
